Due to its company history, the company had highly modified business processes mapped in the SAP R/3 system. The necessary upcoming release change to S/4 not only had the goal of switching to the latest technical release, but also a high degree of SAP process standardization and process harmonization across the various companies. For the implementation, an experienced implementation partner had to be found to support the customer’s own IT and specialist departments in the implementation. To ensure the success of the implementation, various KPIs were defined that had to be adhered to during the implementation.

The first step was to find a suitable implementation partner based on an extensive tendering process. The implementation followed the classic SAP implementation phases. The specified KPIs for standardization/harmonization had to be taken into account as early as the conception phase and implemented accordingly in the process mapping in the system. In addition to these KPIs, important project objectives were to meet the planned implementation date and the specified budget targets.
